Since our founding in 2011, the Child and Family Research Partnership (CFRP) at The University of Texas at Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs has been the academic partner of federal and state government agencies and NGOs, helping answer challenging policy questions impacting vulnerable children and families.

CFRP GRA and LBJ School Doctoral Candidate Abby Lane Receives Federal Research Grant

Congratulations to Abby Lane, CFRP Graduate Research Assistant and doctoral candidate at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, on her recent award of a research grant from the federal Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE). The grant will support her dissertation titled "Balancing Work and Family: The Policy Problems and Opportunities of Child Care and Nonstandard Work Schedules."

New Project: Exploring the Effects of Wage on the Culture of Health in Early Childhood Education Centers

Many high-quality early care and education (ECE) providers earn poverty-level wages and may not be able to afford adequate housing, food, or healthcare. In addition, more than one-third of ECE providers are enrolled in some form of public assistance program, most commonly health insurance and SNAP. Research studies on the quality of ECE workforce have traditionally defined workforce quality in terms of provider education/training, job satisfaction, and job turnover.

Osborne Appointed to Panel of Experts to Build National Agenda to Reduce Child Poverty in Half in 10 Years

According to the U.S. Census, 19.7 percent of American children, or 14.5 million, lived in poverty in 2015. Children represented 23.1 percent of the total population in 2015 and 33.6 percent of the people in poverty.

Partnerships for Children Breaks Record Fulfilling Holiday Wishes

Partnerships for Children’s Holiday Wishes program helps to create holiday memories for children served by CPS. Each child is able to submit three wishes that are then fulfilled through donations and sponsorships. In 2015, the program provided gifts to over 4700 children throughout Central Texas, and this year Partnerships for Children will surpass that number.

CFRP GRA Cassie Gianni Receives 2016 Spirit of LBJ Award

Congratulations to CFRP graduate research assistant, Cassie Gianni, on receiving the 2016 Spirit of LBJ Award! The award was presented at the LBJ School’s Birthday Bash celebrating President Lyndon B. Johnson’s birthday on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

The Spirit of LBJ Award is awarded by the Austin Alumni Chapter for second-year students who are exemplars of their cohort in areas of leadership, commitment to the LBL School, and the Austin community. Recipients must also exhibit a strong sense of ethics and integrity.
